Johnboy

The family team from Johnboys BBQ in Petros recently participated in the Discovery’s Moonshiners: Smoke Ring competition show and the episode featuring their efforts on March 16. Johnboy’s was excited to share their adventure with the community and planned a watch party celebration/fundraiser s at Southern Joy Venue in Wartburg to entertain their friends and family, featuring food, music, and special guests from other TV Shows like Moonshiners: Master Distiller. The fundraiser was held on March 13th and supported the Petros/Joyner School here in Morgan County and is only the latest charitable endeavor by Johnboys who are quick to step up when they see an underserved or deserved need, such as when they supported first responders with free BBQ during the aftermath of last year’s Nashville area tornado. In addition to keeping meat in the smoker, Johnboy keeps his irons in the fire and this may not be the last time you see him on the small screen.

Ethan Lively and David Howard

The Voice

Johnboy’s isn’t the only Morgan County resident to be on television this month. Coalfield resident, Ethan Lively competed on NBC’s The Voice and was selected by judge Blake Shelton to compete on his team. The episode, which aired on March 1st, featured Ethan performing his rendition of George Strait’s “You Look So Good in Love” and impressed the judges with his impressive vocals. Watch for the Morgan County native compete during the current season’s upcoming episodes. Ethan was on hand for Johnboy’s BBQ Fundraiser, along with David Howard, MCTA member and great musician!
