Morgan County Tourism Alliance (MCTA) applied for Three Star grant from the State of TN March 31, 2017.  The Three Star Grant is awarded between the State of Tennessee, Department of Economic and Community Development and the Morgan County Government.  The Morgan County Tourism Alliance (MCTA) is extremely grateful to Don Edwards,  Morgan County Executive for offering us an opportunity to apply for the grant. 


The grant had to be written for one of the focus areas approved by Tennessee: Economic & Community Development (TNECD

•    Jobs & Economic Development

•    Fiscal Strength & Efficient Government

•    Public Safety

•    Education and Workforce Development

•    Health & Welfare. 


 They learned in July that they were awarded a $25,000 grant for the following projects

Amphitheater at Central High School was in poor repair with decayed benches and  boards and in need of repairs, cleaning and a roof over the stage to protect the stage floor. 

Morgan County Career & Technical Center’s Carpentry Class under the direction of instructor, Joey Aytes completed the work this fall with materials purchased with grant monies.

TV/DVD player were purchased for the Morgan County Visitor Center to show videos of Morgan County to interest visitors in specific places to visit while they are here.

Walk with Ease Class

A free exercise program developed by the Arthritis Foundation which helps participants create a customized walking plan to stay motivated, manage pain and exercise safely to stay strong, boost energy and control weight.  Participants walk together 3 times a week, starting slowly and build up to walking for a total of 45 minutes.
